In the essay, Praise the F Word by Mary Sherry, the author tells that flunking a student or threatening to flunk a student is better than passing them on because of other reasons besides making the grade. It prepares them for real world situations where if you dont do whats required then you want reep the benefits of doing whats required. Its also for the students best interest so that they will understand whats necessary to learn more and not have to go back and start over.

Why did I come to college?
I came to college to get a degree in business management. Since I like the field of business I think it would suite me well to pursue a career in business. I've did a little research and I've learned the average college graduate makes an average of about 40,000 a year. I've been working since I was 16 and it's not hard to realize that with a degree I can almost quadruple my yearly income from past years in just one year. And in today's society the average worker will at least need some type of higher education, so naturally I would need some college education to live above and beyond the average expectation of a young male in this society. I also came to college to gain knowledge not only for a job, but for myself. Knowledge is key even without a degree I won't be illiterate or I can still no more than one way to accomplish my goals. I don't necessarily think you need a degree to be successful but it helps a lot. I personally know people who don't have a college education but have good jobs with companies such as the IRS and city workers. So you don't necessarilly need a degree to obtain a good job, but it's more likely you will stay employed longer with some kind of degree. My overall opinion is that it is very beneficial to me and society to get a college education.

Summary to Whitfield
Hilary Whitfield, who wrote Children Left behind talked about her experiences with schools who dont have the students best interest in mind in comparison with Kozol's book Savage Inequalities. She wishes there were more teachers that cared about the students instead of getting a paycheck. She also stresses that the learning environment that you are in reflects how, and how much learning a student will learn.

1.What questions do you have for task ?
I two questions for task two. My first is what is the length of the paper. My second is what can we research to learn more about this kind of writing.
2.What sort of questions would you ask and why?
A question I would ask is what was it like without education and how did it feel after you went back or finished school. Another I would ask is how did you feel at school once went back.
3.What sort of problems do you think will arise for task two?
Finding someone who has went back to school after dopping out will be a problem because i don't know many people that have went back after dropping out.

How to become a Chicano
What kind of person did education make Rodriguez? How comfortable does Rodriguez seem with his identity?
Education made Rodriguez a smart but yet unsure person. It got him to many different places, jobs, and even an understanding of different cultures, races, and stereotypes. It also made him self-conscience of his culture and racial identity. He felt like he couldn't be smart or speak english if he was a Chicano, even though it was apart of his heritage. He felt as if he had to hide or forget about his past in order to be educated. He isn't comfortabble with his identity because he still can't Bring himself to call himself Chicano.

My name is Joshua Diggins. I’m nineteen years of age and I am from Kansas City, Missouri. I graduated from Northeast High School in 2009. I was very proud of myself for graduating from high school but will be more ecstatic with myself when I graduate from college. I am trying to obtain a degree in Business Management or Business Marketing. I am really into business, but besides that I really like media and photography.
A few things about me that represent who I am are: Family. I love and value my family. I come from a tight knit family and we push each other to be our best every chance we get. I have a fraternal twin brother and I also have two older brothers. I have a younger sister whose nine years old and there’s nothing that I won’t do for her. I have a strong mother, who has been through a lot and still continues to surprise me with her strength and love. She’s currently a C.N.A. but is in school to become a respiratory therapist. I love fashion and if I could I would be a model and model my own fashion. In my spare time I like to read, and listen to music. I also like to play football but I love basketball. I played for the varsity team at my school and I follow the NBA closely. I also like to play video games if I have nothing else to do.
Reading and Writing were two of my strongest subjects in high school so I kept high grades in those two subjects. I have read a number of books including the Harry Potter series and most of my favorite author’s, Mildred D. Taylor, novel. My favorite books by her are Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry, and Let the Circle Be Unbroken, and also Road to Memphis. I also like reading music and sports magazines. I like writing but not as much as reading. Depending on the subject I have trouble writing about certain things and meeting criteria for a proper paper or essay. I haven’t had much experience in writing besides the little that was required of me in school but I have a lot of time to learn.
Being able to read and write is important to me especially because without it you won’t be able to get very far in life. It is very essential to be able to read and write in Business so that you can communicate and or appeal to any audience or customer. Knowledge is Key to Success and I plan on being very successful.
